BACKGROUND

Ethan was born in a small, poor village in upper La Noscea. His mother died a few days after he was born. The other villagers took care of him, until his father returned at the age of 5. Said man took Ethan with him onto his pirate ship, raising him to be his heir. He was a well known and widely feared pirate captain, causing Ethan to almost always stay on the ship, unable to leave to go on land, in fear he might get assassinated by rival crews.Growing up as his fathers most precious treasure, he became a spoiled brat. No one on the deck ever dared to oppose this boys wishes. He always got everything he wanted. Until said thing was to go on land and visit a tavern, like his father always did. There, he got kidnapped at the age of 14 by another crew that wanted his father to suffer. They tortured him and cut out his left eye before his father and the mates came to save his life. He changed, his attitude gone, his childlike soul forever lost. Shortly after, he met Thancred in Limsa Lominsa, who treated him like an actual human being, like.. ethan. Nothing more. Not the son of this great pirate, not this little treasure. Just ethan. They became good friends until thancred suddenly left for Ul'dah, his home.When Ethan turned 17, his father died. He was an old man, dying a natural death in hopes of his son continuing his legacy. But Ethan.. decided not to. In his hot headed mind, he just wanted to leave this life behind. It was all laid out for him, it irked him so much. He wanted to find his own path. So he let the men off of their vows, letting them live their old years in piece. The younger ones wouldn't let go of their oaths, vowing their lifes to Ethan, unknown to him. They are waiting for his return with the ship, keeping it intact.Ethan left for Ul'dah to learn about the job as paladin, even if he was already familiar with the fighting styles of the rogues, as thancred teached him. There, he ran into him again. The only friend he ever had, back by his side. Of course, he joined him and the scions of the 7th dawn, helping their cause as thancreds close friend. As the story progressed, and leviathan was summoned, they needed a ship. Of course, Ethan offered the one he inherited from his father. As he went to pick it up.. he found his old mates who have waited for him for over a year to return. His loyal, loyal mates. Ethans cold heart shattered into pieces as he saw this, and decided to no longer ignore his past. He took his fathers title as captain, choosing his best mate to lead the ship whenever his duties with the scions called for him to leave.
